Welcome to SL Illiteracy!

This site is to help explain what exactly illiteracy is, and how it affects the world as we know it. This site is part of an assignment for our Second Life English 104 class held at Ball State University.

Through our semester in Second Life, we have learned many things and will use our knowledge of the subject and pictures from our Second Life endeavors to help us.

During this semester's long journey, we have encountered ogres, frog princes, little red riding hood, aliens, and the like. All has led up to this momentous occasion.

In Second Life (which can be downloaded at secondlife.com), we constructed a building to house the three topics our class chose to research and present. Our group is Il/literacy.

With the use of our Second Life selves, we were able to create this space to visually represent the topic of our choice. Pictures and notecards littered the walls. An illiteracy statue sat in the middle of the construct, while a vending machine handed out free t-shirts, hoping to educate or spur others into action.

So, check it out! The links in the side bar will take you wherever you want to go. We have different sections including summaries of papers we've done, explanations of who we are and what we contributed, works cited, pictures, and helpful websites!

And here's a picture of our awesome teacher, Sarah "Intellagirl" Robbins.
